State of California Non-Profit Corporation # C2873516 /// IRS Tax Exempt Non-Profit # 20-3792838
ANNUAL REPORT – FY 2006
2006 Accomplishments
We are pleased to summarize our accomplishments for 2006 and to preview our goals for 2007. Given our all volunteer efforts, financial and in-kind donations and local / global activities, we have made enormous contributions to the lives of many people. We officially became a California based non-profit corporation. We also recieved our 501 (c) (3) tax exemption status from the U S Internal Revenue Service. These were historic events for what was once part of an informal neighborhood association, and reflects the commitment and proper focus deserved by our local and global charitable efforts.
Our website was significantly upgraded with new community resources and HIV weblinks added. New automated mailing list, video links and online donation capability features are now active.
We have brokered new partners and collaborations both locally and in Zimbabwe as we pool resources so we can accomplish more. Our goal to establish our formal non-profit corporation and our IRS non-profit status were achieved. We humbly thank our many supporters who helped with those processes.
We have added free non-profit resources information to our website and have assisted a new non-profit get started (Youth Empowerment International) in its efforts to provide vocational training to Nigerian youth in Lagos and Abuja.
Our volunteers made another trip to Zimbabwe to conduct site visits and explore new charitable projects. Our strong partnerships with the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, HIV-AIDS Zimbabwe Charity, and Zimbabwe AIDS Relief have served us well and have provided volunteer and support opportunities which we could never have accomplished alone.
Our major fundraisers included collaborative events for the Yoshi’s Oliver Mtukudzi benefit concert for Zimbabwe AIDS Relief, East Bay AIDS Walk and the World AIDS Day Gala benefit for Zimbabwe AIDS projects. In addition, we provided volunteers and in-kind donations for staffing events and packing the Zimbabwe bound storage container project and for printing of publicity materials for the above events.

There is still much work to be done. Our local East Bay community is facing enormous challenges in terms of youth violence, new HIV infection rates and some of the highest high school dropout rates in California. In Zimbabwe, the worsening political and socio-economic conditions are causing needless suffering and the number of people needing AIDS meds, medical care and food stability is overwhelming. We must explore new project opportunities for community based support for orphans in Zimbabwe and increase our support efforts to youth mentoring projects here in the East Bay.
Our goals for 2007 are to increase our support to local East Bay projects and to make another trip to Zimbabwe to finalize 2-3 new project plans which we can begin to support. We must explore adding 1-2 additional clinic sites in Zimbabwe in areas we are not currently serving and seek ways we can help improve access to licensed clinicians for our Zimbabwe clinic efforts.
We will be stepping up our recruitment efforts seeking additional volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors.
We honor your activism and dedication for all that we do; nothing we do is ever possible without your continued support !
WE THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH !!!
